Japan 2019: nearly 2.5 million ticket requests since the opening of sales in January 2018

The first phase of ticket sales for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, launched in January 2018, received nearly 2.5 million requests, according to World Rugby on 10/07/2018.

"With tournament organisers Japan Rugby 2019 targeting a total of 1.8 million ticket sales, demand across the tournament, particularly among the top-ranked teams pool matches and finals series, has been exceptionally strong," said World Rugby. The next phase of ticket sales will take place from 19/09/2018 to 12/11/2018.

Priority "Supporters' Club" (schools and rugby clubs in Japan, as well as host cities) and "Front Row" members have made "close to 900,000 ticket applications," said the body. "Front Row" members had priority and were able to apply for tickets during an advanced sale period.
