eSports: Singtel (telecoms) launches PVP eSports Championship, a regional competition in Singapore

Singtel has launched the PVP eSports Championship, "a multi-title and regional league with a prize pool of $300,000 (€256,000)," announced the Singapore telecommunications operator on 10/07/2018. The inaugural edition will consist of three tournaments on the Arena of Valor, Dota 2 and Hearthstone games.

Organised by the eSports event organiser MET, the eSports tournament will take place in Singapore from 05 to 07/10/2018 with the "ambition to foster a vibrant eSports ecosystem and community together with Optus and regional associates Airtel (Indian mobile operator), AIS (Thai mobile operator), Globe (Philippine mobile operator) and Telkomsel (Indonesian mobile operator)," said Singtel.

"Teams will compete at local qualifiers organised by the Singtel Group in Australia, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. Winning teams from each country will then move on to battle invited professional teams from North America, Europe and China at the PVP eSports Championship to be held in Singapore in October. Singtel will also start a search for a home-grown Singapore team…
