2018 World Cup: €32.5m to French Football Federation as world champions, €24m to runners-up Croatia

By winning the 2018 World Cup thanks to its 4-2 victory in the final against Croatia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow (RUS) on 15/07/2018, the French Football Federation wins a monetary prize of $38m, or €32.5m on 16/07/2018. This sum awarded by FIFA, the organizer of the competition, represents 13% of the projected 2018-19 budget (€250.2m) of the FFF, excluding the World Cup.

Croatia, second at the 2018 World Cup, receives $28m (€24m). Belgium, third after their 2-0 win against England in the third-place match in St. Petersburg on 14/07/2018, receives $24m (€22.5m), while England, fourth, gets $22m (€18.8m).

The prize money shared by the 32 national teams that took part in the 2018 World Cup in Russia was set by FIFA, on 27/10/2017, at $400m (€342.2m on 16/07/2018), which is 12% more than the $358m (€263m on 13/07/2014, the day of the final) dispersed for the 2014 edition in Brazil (see table below).
