Bundesliga: launch of the PFiFF, a new programme to support fan culture

The Bundesliga has announced the launch of the PFiFF (Pool for the promotion of innovative football and fan culture) programme, to support fan related projects, on the 05/12/2013.

€500,000 will be made available annually for the promotion of various fan related projects. The initiative is the result of an agreement reached in May 2013 between the DFB (German Football Federation), the DFL (German professional football league) as well as with the German States’ Ministers of internal affairs. €10m per year has already been invested by the two football associations.

"By funding this program, we hope to give an impulse to new ways of working with our fans. The expansion of social related issues is in particular at the forefront of our thinking because fan culture in Germany exceeds just football match-days", said Andreas Rettig, COO of the DFL (German football league).

The programme aims to fund projects in the fight against extreme right-wing tendencies among supporters, as well as anti-discriminatory and pro-civil societal matters. It also hopes to strengthen relationships between…
