China: Shanghai city to create an international industrial park dedicated to eSports by 2020

"Minhang District (Shanghai City, CHN) is planning to build an international electronic sports industrial park in its southern Hongqiao area in cooperation with Guangdong-based Super Generation Investment Chinese investment fund) and Tencent Interactive Entertainment (Chinese internet and mobile services company)," said the Chinese English-language daily, Shanghai Daily, on 12/07/2018.

"The park, to be known as Shanghai International New Cultural and Creative E-sports Center, is scheduled to begin use by 2020. It has been described as China's first 'all-in-one professional eSports industrial park'," announced the Chinese media.

"It will have eight zones covering functions such as eSports games, game research and development, new media and education as well as animation, film and television," added Shanghai Daily.

"The park will be designed to receive some 10,000 visitors per day and house 100 domestic and foreign eSports companies. A world-class professional eSports arena will be built to host 6,000 spectators, along with a performing hall to accommodate 1,200 guests," explained…
