Discovery: CEO David Zaslav's contract is extended by the board of directors until 31/12/2023

The American David Zaslav (58 years old) has extended his contract as president and CEO of Discovery, the parent company of the pay-TV group Eurosport, until 31/12/2023, via the decision made by the international audiovisual group's the board of directors on 18/07/2018. David Zaslav has been the CEO of Discovery since 2007.

Discovery has the exclusive broadcast rights, in Europe, of the Olympic Games, for the 2018-2024 cycle, which the company acquired for €1.3bn on 29/06/2015. The only exceptions are France and the United Kingdom, where this agreement only concerns the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games (CHN) and the Paris 2024 Summer Games (FRA). The rights for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games PyeongChang (KOR) and Tokyo 2020 (JPN) had already been allocated in these two countries (to France Télévisions and the BBC respectively).

David Zaslav has repeatedly stated that he wants to make Eurosport a "Netflix for sports" in Europe.
