Serie A: Parma Calcio remain promoted, but acquire a "five-point pentaly" for the 2018-19 season

"The National Federal Court, chaired by lawyer Mario Antonio Scino, has imposed a five-point penalty on Parma Calcio 1913 in the 2018-19 (Serie A) season," announced the FIGC on 23/07/2018.

The prosecutor of the Italian Football Federation had proposed two possible penalties for withdrawing points from Parma Calcio 1913, on 17/07/2018, following the alleged attempt of Emanuele Calaiò (36 years old), one of the club's players, to convince, via the instant messaging app Whatsapp, two players (former teammates of Calaiò) at Spezia Calcio (10^th Serie B in 2017-18) to not play to "their best" ahead of a Serie B regular season match between the two clubs (Parma 2-0 Spezia Calcio, 18/05/2018), which resulted Parma securing promotion to the Serie A:
• Two points removed from the club's 2017-18 Serie B total, which would push them back to 4^th place and therefore cancel the promotion to the Serie A.
• Six penalty points in the Serie A in 2018-19.
