Sky Deutschland awarded live broadcast rights for UEFA Champions League in Germany until 2018

German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland has secured the extension of broadcasting rights for the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) Champions League in Germany for the seasons 2015-16 to 2017-18, the company announced on the 09/12/2013.

Sky will show 146 matches live and in HD per season, 128 of them exclusively, from the play-offs to the final. Sky secured the live broadcast and highlights rights across all platforms for the German market, meaning that Sky customers will be able to watch the UEFA Champions League not just on their home TV set, but also with Sky Go on the Web, their mobiles and tablets via 3G or Wi-Fi and on the Xbox360 video game console.

The broadcasting rights also include four editions of the UEFA Super Cup (2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018), the game between the last Champions League and Europa League winners.

Sky Deutschland shares were trading at €8.08, up 4.7%, on the 09/12/2013 following the news, according to the European edition of The Wall Street Journal.
