Championship: Chinese businessman Tony Xia sells the majority of his Aston Villa FC shares

"NSWE, a company that is jointly owned and controlled by businessman Nassef Sawiris' group NNS and businessman Wes Edens, will immediately inject significant investment capital into the club," announced Aston Villa FC (Sky Bet Championship) on 20/07/2018. Chinese businessman Tony Xia, who bought 100% of the the club in June 2016 for an estimated €76m (€96m at the time), will become co-chairman of the Birmingham club, and retains his place on the board of directors. The two investors are said to have acquired 55% of the club's shares for £30m (€33.6m), according to English media.

"The capital injection and transaction have been approved by the EFL and the parties will work through all confirmatory approvals required by the EFL as soon as possible.
