Sky Deutschland acquire Plazamedia and a minority stake in SPORT1/Constantin Sport Marketing

German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland agreed with Constantin Sport Holding GmbH, a sister company of German media group Constantin Medien, to acquire 100% of its TV and movie production company Plazamedia, as well as a 25.1% equity stake in Sport1 GmbH and Constantin Sport Marketing GmbH, on the 05/12/2013.

The total purchase price will amount to around €57.5 million on a cash and debt free basis.

Plazamedia is a full-service provider for TV and new media as well as one of the leading producers of sports TV in the German-speaking markets. The company provides production services for more than 1,000 football matches for Sky Deutschland each year as well as Sky’s studio shows such as Sky90 and Samstag LIVE!. "The acquisition of Plazamedia significantly enhances Sky’s production capacities, enabling greater flexibility and system continuity", according to Sky Deutschland.
