Serie A: ChievoVerona cleared by the Italian Federation judges and avoids relegation

"The Federal National Court, chaired by Roberto Proietti, rejects the case of AC Chievo Verona Srl (on procedural grounds) and therefore refers the case back to the Federal Prosecutor," announced the FIGC on 25/07/2018.

The judges of the Federation returned, due to a procedural issue, the Federal Prosecutor's investigation file which concerns the alleged fictitious (inflated) gains from transfers of some 30 players with AC Cesena (Serie B ConTe.it in 2017-18) between 2014 and 2017. A total amount of €25.38m in gains was allegedly intended to hide the real financial situation of both clubs.

The Italian Federation (FIGC) prosecutor had requested a penalty of 15 points against Associazione Calcio ChievoVerona (Serie A) for the 2017-18 Serie A TIM season, according to the Italian press agency ANSA, on 17/07/2018. Such a penalty would have meant relegation for the club (18^th with 25 points instead of 14^th with 40 points).
