Russia 2018: "A weak and worrisome African record, but the question is why?" (A. Ahmad, CAF)

"Our five representatives (Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, and Tunisia) scored, in 15 matches, 15 goals and one own-goal (from Poland's Thiago Cionek for Senegal) and conceded a whopping 26 goals! In 15 matches, the five African teams won three (20%), two draws (13.3%) and lost 10 times (66.7%) (see details below)! This is a weak and worrisome record. None of them managed to pass to the second round (Round of 16). But the question is why such a result?," stated Ahmad Ahmad (MAD), president of the CAF, in Rabat (MAR) on 21/07/2018.

Ahmad Ahmad opened the evaluation conference of the participation of the African teams in the 2018 World Cup, organized on 21 and 22/07/2018 in the presence of technical and management representatives, experts, players and legends, two vice-presidents of CAF, M. Pinnick (Nigeria) and M. Lekjaâ (Morocco), and the presidents of the five African representatives in Russia.
