Spain: LaLiga acquires TV rights to the Liga ASOBAL (Spanish handball league) for its OTT platform

LaLiga has acquired the broadcasting rights, in Spain, to the Liga ASOBAL (Spanish handball first division), for several seasons, from the 2018-19 season, on 26/07/2018. The matches will be broadcast on LaLiga's free OTT platform due to be launched in August 2018. A total of 130 matches (league, cups, and the Supercopa de España) will be broadcast throughout the season.

The acquisition of the TV rights and LaLiga's OTT platform are part of the "LaLiga4Sports" project, which aims to highlight the work of 64 Spanish sports federations and the Spanish Paralympic Committee. The project was conceived in October 2015 in the framework of the agreements related to the collective marketing of the audiovisual rights of the Spanish first and second divisions, ratified by the promulgation of the royal decree-law on 30/04/2015.
