Cagliari Calcio: Sportium (agency) to revise the stadium (25,200 capacity) project by 30/09/2018

Cagliari Calcio (Serie A TIM) have asked Sportium, an agency specialised in architecture and urban planning, to revise the preliminary draft of its new stadium, according the Italian club on 02/06/2018. The end of the review work is scheduled for 30/09/2018.

The review "provides for an increase in the overall capacity to 25,200 spectators (compared to 21,000 originally planned) and includes the possibility of increasing the overall capacity of the stadium from 25,200 to 30,000, if Italy were to host Euro 2028 and if Cagliari was among the designated host cities," said Cagliari Calcio.

The club currently plays at the Sardegna Arena (16,233 capacity) a temporary stadium since 10/09/2017, having played his home games at the Sant'Elia Stadium until 2016-17, which will be destroyed to make way for the new stadium. The club aims to start work in early 2019 to be completed in June 2021, so that the new stadium is inaugurated at the beginning of the 2021-22 season.
