2018 UEFA Super Cup: 100% of tickets sold by UEFA via a blockchain mobile application

UEFA has distributed 100% of the tickets for the 2018 UEFA Super Cup (Real Madrid CF - Club Atlético de Madrid, 2-4 a.e.t, A. Le Coq Arena in Tallinn, Estonia, on 15/08/2018) via a mobile application based on blockchain technology, and available on iOS and Android, said the European football confederation on 16/08/2018.

"Blockchain" is a database that contains the history of all the exchanges made between its users since its creation. This database is secure and distributed openly: it is shared by its different users, without intermediaries, which allows everyone to check the validity of the chain.

"UEFA is looking to make its ticket sales process for matches more simple and safe - thanks to a new system aimed at providing secure ticket distribution, and which prevents the replication and duplication of tickets," said the governing body of European football.
