adidas: turnover and profitability up in the second quarter thanks to the 2018 World Cup

adidas Group posted a turnover of €5.26bn in the second quarter of 2018 (from 01/04 to 30/06/2018), up 4.4% in one year (€5.04bn), and up 10% excluding currency effects, according to the German equipment manufacturer on 09/08/2018. In the first half of 2018 (from 01/01 to 30/06/2018), adidas Group turnover amounted to €10.8bn, up 3.1% in 12 months (€10.48bn).

"We delivered another strong quarter on the back of a successful World Cup activation.Our profitable growth was once again driven by our strategic focus areas North America, Greater China and e-commerce, while we continued to invest into the desirability of our brands and the scalability of our business. With these results, we remain firmly on track to achieve our set targets for the full year 2018 and long-term until 2020," said Kasper Rorsted, CEO of adidas Group on 09/08/2018.

The German equipment manufacturer posted an operating profit of €592m in the second quarter, up 17.2% over 12 months (€505m). Over the first half of the year, operating profit totaled €1.34bn, representing a 17.1% growth over 12 months.
