LaLiga Santander: club captains oppose the relocation of one match per year to the United States

"It's time to say 'Basta!' The players are tired and ready to go all the way. They are tired because they are the protagonists and are not valued. We think that football is not only business. We have a lot to say in the world of football and we consider that we lack respect," said David Aganzo, president of the Association of Spanish Footballers, after a meeting of captains of 14 LaLiga Santander clubs on 22/08/2018.

As part of an agreement with Relevent, an American company specializing in media, sports and entertainment, for the creation of a joint venture to promote football in the United States and Canada, LaLiga announced that one official match of LaLiga Santander is scheduled to be played each season in the United States for the next 15 years.

"At the meeting, the players have given their full support to the AFE to make the decisions it deems appropriate. A meeting of the AFE-LaLiga Joint Committee will be solicited to resolve all the issues of concern to players, such as the schedule of match(es) or the one game that LaLiga wants to play in the United States," said the…
