Nike join nine organisations to promote physical activity among children in Brazil

The sports equipment manufacturer Nike have announced the launch of a programme to encourage the practice of physical activity among children in Brazil, on the 09/12/2013. The announcement was made during the "Clinton Global Initiative for Latin America" meeting, which brings together former U.S. President Bill Clinton, business leaders and politicians in Latin America, in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), on the 09 and 10/12/2013.

The American brand joins nine organisations and implements a range of initiatives that will provide simple steps and tools to help schools and different communities to put in place appropriate physical activities for children. The action is part of the "Designed to Move" programme, initiated in 2010, with the aim to study the impact of inactivity in children and propose solutions. All ten organisations are members.

In total, the programme will have a budget of 16 million dollars (about 11.5 million euro) over three years. The initiative will be completed with the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
