UEFA: Olympique Lyonnais to play match behind closed doors during the 2018 Champions League

"Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 Conforama) has taken note of the decision of the UEFA Disciplinary Committee to sanction the club following the OL - PFC CSKA Moscow match last season (2017-18), with a match behind closed doors in the Champions League this season," said the French club on 25/08/2018, ahead of the sanction by UEFA on 27/08/2018 (see below).

"The club will exercise all procedures, that the law allows, as soon as it receives UEFA's motivation for the decision," added Olympique Lyonnais regarding the file opened by the European authority following incidents which took place during the Europa League Round of 16 return-leg OL - CSKA Moscow (2-3, 3-3 after both legs, OL eliminated), at the Groupama Stadium (57,084 capacity), on 15/03/2018.

"Olympique Lyonnais became aware of the opening of a disciplinary procedure against them for, in particular, the racist behavior of certain spectators. While waiting to study the documents provided by UEFA, the club as of now condemns such shameful acts from a few isolated individuals," said the club on 19/03/2018.
