Germany: Sport1 (free-TV channel) acquires the rights to the Frauen-Bundesliga from 2018-19

Sport1 has acquired the rights to the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga (German Women's Championship) from the German telecommunications operator Deutsche Telekom AG, from 2018-19, according to the German free and pay-TV group on 28/08/2018.

"Sport1 has been showing the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga since the 2016-2017 season. The best results posted in 2017-18 were for Wolfsburg versus Potsdam on 15/10/2017 and Bayern Munich versus Potsdam on 06/05/2018 - each with an average of 310,000 spectators," recalled Sport1 on 28/08/2018.

Sport1 acquired the rights to the Frauen-Bundesliga from the DFB for the 2016-2018 cycle, on 29/08/2016. The German television group broadcast 22 matches per season on the free-TV channel Sport1, the pay-TV channel Sport1+ and the streaming platform Sport1.de.

Deutsche Telekom AG and the public broadcasting group ARD acquired, from the DFB, the rights to the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga from 2017-18 on 26/01/2017.
