Sky Bet Championship: Christian Purslow becomes the new CEO of Aston Villa FC

"Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, the controlling shareholders (since 20/07/2018, see below) of Aston Villa Football Club (Sky Bet Championship), along with Dr Tony Xia (co-president of the club), are delighted to announce Christian Purslow is joining the Club as CEO and minority investor," announced the Birmingham (ENG) club.

The managing director of Liverpool FC (Premier League) from 2009 to 2010 and Chelsea FC (Premier League) from 2014 to 2017, Christian Purslow, 54 years old, "will take over the day-to-day running of the Club with immediate effect," added Aston Villa FC , whose previous managing director, Keith Wyness, left the club in early June 2018.

"We are tremendously excited to bring someone of Christian's calibre and experience into the Club. This is an important step on our journey to return Aston Villa back to the elite of English football," said Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens.
