The election for the new president of the Italian Football Federation will take place at the Hilton Rome Airport Hotel in Fiumicino (ITA) on Monday 22/10/2018, according to the FIGC on 31/08/2018.

According to the Italian authority, "Roberto Fabbricini, the extraordinary commissioner of the FIGC, has convened the Federal Elective Assembly whose agenda will be as follows:
• Verification of credentials;
• Election of president of the assembly;
• Election of president of the Federation."

The elective federal assembly of the FIGC failed to elect a president despite four rounds of voting on 29/01/2018. Damiano Tommasi, president of the Italian Players' Association (AIC); Cosimo Sibilia, president of the Italian Amateur Leagues (LND); and Gabriele Gravina, president of the Lega Pro (Serie C, third division), were the three candidates to succeed Carlo Tavecchio, who announced his resignation on 20/11/2017, a week after the elimination of the Italian national team in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, versus Sweden (0-1, 0-0), on 13/11/2017.
