England: Ian Lenagan leaves as chairman of the English Football League, Debbie Jevans takes over

Ian Lenagan, 72 years old, is leaving his position of non-executive chairman of the English Football League, announced on 06/09/2018. Debbie Jevans will serve as interim chairman and begin the appointment process for his replacement.

Ian Lenagan "informed the EFL Board that, as a result of increasing opportunities arising out of his business interests away from EFL specific matters, he would not be seeking re-election for a second term in 2019. The EFL Board understood and accepted his decision. Further it was agreed with him that the League's interests would be best served by beginning the process to select and appoint a successor immediately," said the EFL.

Ian Lenagan, former president of the League Two club Oxford City and president of the Wigan Warriors (rugby), succeeded Greg Clarke as the head of the Football League (re-branded as the English Football League in 2016-17) on 10/06/2016.
