LaLiga Santander: Girona FC in talks with LaLiga to "host" FC Barcelona in the United States

"Following the information regarding the possibility that the Girona FC - FC Barcelona game (Matchday 21 of LaLiga Santander, from of 26 and 27/01/2019) is played in the United States, the club confirms that it has received the proposal from LaLiga and that it is working on this with both the LaLiga and Barça (LaLiga Santander) although, for the moment, it has not been confirmed that the match will take place in Miami (Florida)," said Girona FC (LaLiga Santander) on 06/09/2018.

As part of an agreement with Relevent, an American company specialised in media, sports and entertainment, to create a joint venture to promote football in the United States and Canada, LaLiga announced the possibility of holding an official match of the Spanish league in the US each season for the next 15 years, on 16/08/2018 (see below).
