Hull City: FA will consult fans before deciding on changing name of club

The FA (the English Football Association) will consult the various parties involved with Hull City, including their supporters, during its consideration of the club's proposed name change by their president, Assem Allam, announced the association, on the 12/12/2013.

"City Till We Die", a group of supporters opposed to the name change, are confident that the FA "would make the right decision." The association did not give a date for when the consultation process would end.

Assem Allam officially filed to change Hull City to Hull Tigers, from the 2014-15 season, on the 02/12/2013. Any name change must be approved by the FA first. The owner of the club said in August 2013 that the name "Tigers" was more effective from a commercial and marketing point of view than "City", which he considers "ugly and too common."

A petition requesting to keep the name "Hull City" launched by the "City Till We Die" group had amassed 10,378 signatures by the 13/12/2013.
