eSports: eight new franchises (20 in total) will compete in the 2019 Overwatch League season

"Last month, franchises representing Atlanta (USA) and Guangzhou (CHN) joined the Overwatch League, and now six more new teams - Chengdu (CHN), Hangzhou (CHN), Paris (FRA), Toronto (CAN), Vancouver (CAN), and Washington D.C. (USA) - will compete for the 2019 Overwatch League championship, official team names, logos, and rosters will be revealed at a later date," said Overwatch League, on 07/09/2018. 

The Overwatch League is a competition organised in a similar way to the North American sports leagues (NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS), with 12 franchises in 2018, and 20 in 2019, competing in the regular season and then in the play-offs. The inaugural season of the competition began on 10/01/2018 and ended on 27/07/2018.

Of the 20 franchises that make up the Overwatch League, 11 are American, four Chinese, two Canadian, one British, one French and one South Korean.

  • Overwatch is a first person, team and online shooter developed by Blizzard Entertainment and marketed since 25/05/2016.
