Spain: "If we want to continue growing, the key is international expansion and evolution" (LaLiga)

"At LaLiga we want to take Spanish football to the top. We are an industry that supports hundreds of thousands of families in Spain and if we want to continue growing, the key is international expansion and evolution. We must lead innovation in the world of football," said the Spanish League in a statement posted on its website, on 07/09/2018.

As part of an agreement with Relevent (US media, sports and entertainment company), to create a joint venture to promote football in the United States and Canada, LaLiga announced the possibility of holding an official match of the Spanish League in the US each season for the next 15 years, on 16/08/2018. It is envisaged that the Girona FC - FC Barcelona (Matchday 21 of the 2018-19 LaLiga Santander season) game will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium (64,982 capacity) of Miami (Florida) on Saturday 26/01/2019 (kick-off at 14:45 local time, 20:45 CET).
