The Republic of Korea (South Korea) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) could present a joint bid to host the 2032 Summer Olympic Games, according to the two neighboring countries after a joint summit in Pyongyang (North Korea) on 19/08/2018.

Presidents Moon Jae-in (Republic of Korea) and Kim Jong Un (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) also said the two nations may participate under a common flag during the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

The two Korean delegations marched together at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Jakarta (Indonesia) on 18/08/2019.

At the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games (South Korea), following an agreement on 20/01/2018 between the IOC and the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of North Korea, 22 North Korean athletes participated in three different sports and five disciplines. An ice hockey team comprised of players from both North and South Korea participated in the competition.
