Real Madrid: the club will propose to its socios to borrow €575m for the renovation of the Bernabeu

The management of Real Madrid (LaLiga Santander) will seek the agreement of the socios to contract a loan to finance the renovation project of the Santiago Bernabeu (80,000 capacity), announced several Spanish media outlets on 12/09/2018.

According to these reports, Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, intends to present a plan providing for a loan of €575m, repayable over a period of 35 years, at the general assembly of the club's socios, which will be held on 23/09/2018.

The agreement of the socios is necessary, according to the statutes of the Madrid club, if the debt of the club is more than 20% of its annual budget. To be validated, the proposal of the management will have to obtain two thirds of the votes from the socios. The club gave no further details on the new plans for the renovation of the Santiago Bernabeu.
