LaLiga Santander: Real Sociedad - Barcelona, first match at the partly renovated Estadio de Anoeta

Real Sociedad SAD - FC Barcelona (1-2, Matchday 4 of the 2018-19 LaLiga Santander) was the first match to be played at the new Estadio de Anoeta in San Sebastián (ESP), after the completion of part of the renovation works due to be carried out on the stadium from 2017-2019, on 15/09/2018.

26,756 spectators attended the match in the stadium that has only been partially renovated, with the work being spread over two years to avoid temporary relocation. Work began in May 2017, and has so far consisted of the construction of the new South stand, the lowering of the ground level and the extension of the side stands.

The construction of a new North Stand (October 2018-October 2019) and the renovation of the West Stand (May-October 2019) which have not yet been implemented, will allow the Anoeta to reach its final capacity of 39,500 (compared to 29,000 before renovation works), by October 2019.
