Premier League: Andre Villas-Boas leaves Tottenham and becomes fifth manager sacked in 2013-14

Portuguese Andre Villas-Boas left his position as manager of Tottenham Hotspur (Premier League, ENG) "by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties," said the London club, on the 16/12/2013.

His departure came a day after the league defeat to Liverpool (0-5, match-day 16, on the 15/12/2013) and with the club in 7^th place in the league table, having invested about 110 million pounds (€130 million) on the purchase of seven new players during the 2013 summer transfer window.

Appointed manager of Tottenham in July 2012, Andre Villas-Boas' contract was due to run until the end of the 2014-15 season. The Portuguese coach is the fifth Premier League (25%) manager to be removed from office since the start of the 2013-14 season, after Paolo Di Canio (Sunderland), Ian Holloway (Crystal Palace), Martin Jol (Fulham) and Steve Clarke (West Brom).
