Tennis: Madrid (ESP) is selected as the host city for the 2019 and 2020 finals of the new Davis Cup

"The Davis Cup Steering Committee has selected Madrid (ESP) as the host city to stage the first two editions of the newly-transformed Davis Cup by BNP Paribas finals in 2019 and 2020," announced the ITF and Kosmos Tennis, on 27/09/2018.

"The 2019 event will take place at the iconic La Caja Mágica, located in Madrid's Parque Lineal del Manzanares. La Caja Mágica and the WiZink Center are both under consideration to stage the event in 2020. A submission from the Métropole Européenne de Lille (FRA) was also considered, with the Committee noting the high standard of proposal from both candidate cities," according to the competitions website.

The ITF, the International Tennis Federation, signed a 25 year partnership agreement worth $3bn (€2.4bn) with Kosmos to change the format of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas and "generate substantial revenues for the development of tennis," announced the Federation, on 26/02/2018, the agreement was then validated during an annual general meeting on 16/08/2018.
