Arbitration: "CAS is a genuine arbitration tribunal" according to European Court of Human Rights

"The European Court of Human Rights judgment (Mutu and Pechstein v. Switzerland case, on 02/10/2018) is another confirmation, this time at a continental level, that CAS is a genuine arbitration tribunal and that such sports jurisdiction is necessary for uniformity in sport. The Swiss Federal Tribunal already came to the same conclusion in1993 and 2003; the German Federal Tribunal as well in 2016," stated the Court of Arbitration for Sport, on 02/10/2018. 

"The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has noted the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in relation to the cases between Claudia Pechstein (speed skating / Germany), Adrian Mutu (football / Romania) and Switzerland. Both athletes filed appeals at the ECHR in 2010 against judgments of the Swiss Federal Tribunal (SFT) which confirmed the decisions rendered by CASin these matters. The ECHR has dismissed all claims, except one concerning the right to a public hearing," emphasized the CAS.
