FIFA: an agreement signed with the Council of Europe strengthens co-operation between the two bodies

"Human rights, integrity and good governance in sport; safety and security at football matches; mutual dialogue and co-operation in view of major sport events; and institutional co-operation through regular exchanges of views, good practices and the development of joint initiatives and co-ordination of operational activities," were the "four main areas of co-operation" of the Memorandum of Understanding concluded between the Council of Europe and FIFA, in Strasbourg (FRA), according to FIFA on 05/10/2018. 

Thorbjorn Jagland (NOR), secretary general of the Council of Europe, and Gianni Infantino (ITA-SUI) FIFA president, signed the "landmark agreement" at the Palais de l'Europe, in Strasbourg, in order to "strengthen the co-operation between the two institutions and further develop synergies and partnerships in areas of shared interest," explained the international federation.
