German car manufacturer Volkswagen become top sponsor of the French Federation until 2018

German car manufacturer Volkswagen have become a top sponsor of the FFF (French Football Federation) for the period 2014-2018. The German group will sponsor the French national teams until the end of the 2017-18 season.

The agreement is estimated at € 5 million per year. Volkswagen replace Citroën as automotive partner of "Les Bleus". The French brand of the PSA group did not have the status of top sponsor and paid a million and a half euro per season. The German car manufacturer are now one of FFF's five major partners with kit supplier Nike, bank Credit Agricole, energy group GDF Suez and betting company PMU.

Sponsorship income of the FFF reached € 79 million at the end of the 2012-13 season. Nike are the main financial support of the federation. The U.S. sporting goods manufacturer pay € 42.6 million per year until 2018 to be the official kit supplier of the French national team. Other agreements concluded by the FFF, regarding France's national teams and the French Cup amounted to € 37 million in 2012-13. Major partners such as Credit Agricole and PMU pay 7 to € 9 million.
