The NBA is the most powerful sports brand in the world, ahead of Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander), FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander), the NFL, and the Premier League, according to a study by the British firm POWA Index on 06/10/2018.

"We've built a huge global community on social networks, and we estimate that there are about 1.4 billion people connected to the NBA in one way or another. One of our strategies has been innovating with all the different digital platforms. For example, we have broadcast games streaming on Facebook in India, and we believe that greater fan engagement through social media is helping to increase the TV audience," said Adam Silver, the commissioner of the NBA, to the American website strategy-business on 30/04/2018.
