Romania: Eurosport to acquire the broadcasting rights to the Premier League for 2013-2016

Pay-TV group Eurosport have acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights in Romania, to the English Premier League for the period 2013-2016, the company announced on the 19/12/2013.

Eurosport will broadcast live every weekend several Premier League matches, as well as highlights of all the Premier League matches, from the 21/12/2013.

The agreement covers television, Internet and mobile devices. Romanian users of the online service Eurosport Player will be able to follow the programs dedicated to the Premier League on their computer, smartphone or tablet.

• The exclusive broadcasting rights, in Romania, to the English Premier League for the period 2013-2016, were originally sold by the Premier League to agency MMS (Multi Media Sports) for an estimated $ 20 million (about  € 14.5m), on the 20/02/2013.
• MMS was not able to meet the payment schedule and the rights were put back on the market.
• The agency had also acquired the broadcasting rights to the Premier League for Spain and Andorra, on the 20/02/2013. These rights were re-sold by the Premier League to media and marketing rights…
