Italy: Gabriele Gravina, the sole candidate for the presidency of the FIGC, in Rome on 22/10/2018

"The FIGC Elective Assembly is scheduled today (Monday 22/10/2018, at 11:00 CET) at the Hilton Rome Airport hotel in Fiumicino (ITA), with the election of the president of the Federation for the remainder of the 2016-2020 four-year period. Gabriele Gravina (65), resigning president of the Lega Pro (since 16/10/2018), is the only candidate," announced the FIGC on 19/10/2018.

Roberto Fabbricini, secretary general of CONI, has been in charge of the FIGC since 01/02/2018 (as extraordinary commissioner), after the failure of the election of a president, despite four rounds of voting on 29/01/2018. The voting was between three candidates, to appoint the successor of Carlo Tavecchio, who announced his resignation on 20/11/2017, a week after the elimination of the Italian national team from qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, who lost their UEFA-zone play-off versus Sweden (1-0 to Sweden on aggregate) on 13/11/2017.
