"The 'VAR Project' will be presented to club representatives who will vote for or against its approval at the SFL General Assembly on Friday 23/11/2018," said the Swiss professional football football, on 03/10/2018.

"The Swiss Football League, the Swiss Football Association (ASF) and the Swiss Department of Elite Referees plan to use video-based referee assistance from 2019-20, but there are two major obstacles to overcome: securing funding and getting approval for the project from the clubs. In terms of funding, discussions between the League and the Federation are under way," said the SFL.

"We are currently looking for a suitable site, hosting the video operations room ('VAR operation room'), to house the control center," added the Swiss League, which also announced that "the training camp for referees on Gran Canaria Island (ESP), in January 2019, "will include practical, life-size exercises."
