Golf: Discovery and the PGA Tour to launch an international OTT platform "GolfTV" from 2019

The audiovisual group Discovery Communications and the PGA Tour will launch their dedicated international OTT platform "GolfTV" from 2019, indicate the two entities on 22/10/2018. GolfTV, which will replace the "PGA Tour Live" platform except in the United States, will first be deployed in eight countries in 2019 (see below).

Discovery, the parent company of Eurosport, will broadcast more than "2000 hours of live, premium content on demand and nearly 150 tournaments per year."

Discovery has acquired the international rights, excluding the United States, to the North American men's professional golf tour, the PGA Tour, for the 2019-2030 cycle on 04/06/2018. The agreement between the two entities, for a total amount of $2bn (€1.7bn) over 12 years, includes the creation of a dedicated international OTT platform, under the PGA Tour brand, and the possibility, for Discovery, to sublicense rights in more than "220 markets and territories," according to PGA Tour.
