eSports: Mainz becomes the 9^th Bundesliga club to create a team and recruits Bajazzo_7 (FIFA player)

1.FSV Mainz 05 (Bundesliga) has launched an eSports team on the video game FIFA published by EA Sports and recruited the player Francesco "Bajazzo_7" Mazzei, on 19/10/2018.

"We have been dealing with the topic of eSports for quite some time now and as a Bundesliga club we have initially committed ourselves to the FIFA game. Over the past few months, we have consciously taken the time to explore the market, define opportunities and, last but not least, hire a player who fits with the club. One of our greatest strengths in the field of sports is traditionally the development of young and hungry players, in addition to the training and further education of outstanding coaches. We would like to transfer this concept to eSports and make a name for ourselves in the field," said Jan Lehmann, commercial director of the club.

AOK Rheinland-Pfalz/Saarland, the regional branch of the German health insurance fund AOK Gesundheitskasse, became a partner of 1.FSV Mainz 05 and its eSports team for two seasons, or the 2018-2020 cycle, on 12/07/2018.
