Spain: a € 6.6m offer for the media and marketing rights to women's football

The RFEF (Spanish Royal Football Federation) has received a € 6.6m offer for the promotion and broadcasting of Spain's women's domestic competitions, Spanish news agency Europa Press announced, on the 18/12/2013.

The offer, made by a media and marketing rights agency whose identity was not disclosed, covers TV, Internet and mobile rights, to the women's first division, and those of a competition that would be launched, the Spanish Super Cup, for the seasons 2014-15 to 2019-20, that is to say a six-year period.

The agency would pay the RFEF one million euros per season over the period 2014-2017 and 1.2 million euros per season over the period 2017-2020, according to Europa Press. The 16 clubs of the women's first division would receive € 350,000 in TV rights income each season during the first three years of the contract, and € 550,000 during the following three years.

Only one fixture of the women's first division is currently broadcast every week by a Spanish pay-TV channel, but none of the 16 clubs in the league gets any TV rights income.
