Sorare, a French blockchain start-up, has become partner of the Pro League (BEL) for two years (2018-2020), and is "the first global agreement to issue crypto-digital cards representing football players", according to the entities on 23/10/2018. Sorare offers a platform for football fans to collect, exchange and play with football related digital goods.

Crypto-digital cards (or tokens) with the images of players who play in competitions organised by the Pro League can be purchased via an auctioning system on the Sorare platform. Three types of cards will be available for each player: unique, super-rare and rare. Once purchased by the user, these cards will form his/her digital asset portfolio. The auction financing system enables Sorare to generate funds.

Depending on the performance of the real football players, the crypto-digital cards will take or lose value indirectly, depending on supply and demand on the platform. Users will be able to exchange Sorare's cards via an auction mechanism and play with each other within the platform's virtual game arena to earn cryptocurrency…
