LaLiga Santander: Athletic Club posts €125.2m in revenue in 2017-18 and a provision of €76m

Athletic Club (LaLiga Santander) posted €125.2m in revenue (excluding gains from player transfers) for the 2017-18 season, an increase of 2.8% over the 2016-17 season (€121.7m), according to the Bilbao club on 21/10/2018.

Taking into account gains from player transfers, the Basque club's revenue amounted to €191m in 2017-18, thanks in particular to the sale of the French defender Aymeric Laporte to Manchester City FC (Premier League) for €65m in January 2018. Net profit before tax reached €79m, but the club decided to make an extraordinary provision of €76m (see below).

For the 2018-19 season, Athletic Club has a projected turnover of €189m (capital gains from player transfers included), for expenses estimated at €128.9m, a net surplus of €60.1m. This turnover figure includes the sale of Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to Chelsea FC (Premier League) for €80m in August 2018.
