"It is with the deepest regret and a collective broken heart that we confirm our Chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha (THA), was among those to have tragically lost their lives on Saturday evening when a helicopter carrying him and four other people crashed outside King Power Stadium. None of the five people on-board survived," stated Leicester City FC on 28/10/2018.

The helicopter, frequently used by the chairman of Leicester City, took off from the centre of the pitch at the King Power Stadium, about an hour after the end of the Leicester City FC - West Ham (1-1, Matchday 10 of the Premier League) game, on Saturday 27/10/2018, between 19:30 and 19:45 local time (20:30 and 20:45 CET). The helicopter crashed shortly after in a car park near the stadium and immediately ignited.

"The primary thoughts of everyone at the club are with the Srivaddhanaprabha family and the families of all those on-board at this time of unspeakable loss," added the club in a statement issued just over 24 hours after the disaster.
