Serie A: Italian Edoardo Reja to take over Vladimir Petkovic as coach of Lazio Roma

Italian Edoardo Reja has been appointed coach of Lazio Roma (Serie A, ITA), the club announced, on the 04/01/2014.

He takes over the Swiss of Bosnian origin Vladimir Petkovic, in office since the 02/06/2012 and sacked on the 04/01/2014, having agreed, on the 23/12/2013 with the ASF-SFV (Swiss Football Association) to become the manager of the Swiss national team after the 2014 World Cup. The club believes that Petkovic has broken the trust relationship, an "essential element of the employment contract," by negotiating with the Swiss Federation without warning them.

Edoardo Reja already led Lazio Roma, between February 2010 and June 2012. He was also the manager of SSC Napoli (Serie A) from 2005 to 2009 and of Hadjuk Split (Prva HNL, Croatian First Division), between 2009 and 2010. He will be assisted by Alberto Bollini and Adriano Bianchini.

Vladimir Petkovic will replace Ottmar Hitzfeld at the head of the Swiss team after the 2014 World Cup. The current manager announced he will retire after the competition, on the 17/10/2013. Vladimir Petkovic's contract runs until the end of 2015…
