Media: Sky and BT extend their future distribution partnership (from 2019-20) to Ireland

The British pay-TV group Sky will become the exclusive distribution partner of its competitor BT Sports, in Ireland, announced the two entities, on 31/10/2018.

Sky and BT signed a multi-year agreement to reciprocally market some of their pay-TV offerings to their respective UK customers on 15/12/2017. "The partnership will come into effect next summer, just in time for the 2019-20 Premier League football season," said the two companies, on 31/10/2018.

BT will be able to market its BT TV (triple play) subscribers, "Now TV", Sky's online streaming service, which includes its "most popular content" including the ten Sky Sports channels, upon which are Premier League matches are broadcast. For its part, Sky will be able to market the five BT Sport channels, which broadcast exclusive Champions League and Premier League matches (see below).
