Financial fair play: the PSG-QTA partnership "is no accounting artifice" (Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, PSG)

The partnership between Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1, FRA) and QTA (Qatar Tourism Authority) "is not an accounting artifice. It is based on realities, do not have doubts about it," said Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of the Parisian club and of QSI (Qatar Sports Investments), to the French press on the 02/01/2013. The annual amount of this partnership binding the club since 2011 to the Qatari public agency in charge of promoting tourism in the country and of the regulation of this industry, is estimated between € 150 and € 200 million.

PSG executives met with UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), in Nyon (SUI), on the 28/11/2013, to answer questions asked by the European body regarding the contract with QTA in the light of the financial fair play regulations, which forbid any club to spend more money than they generate. Paris SG especially have to convince UEFA that QTA is a separate entity from QSI, the owner of the club, so that the PSG-QTA contract is not just a means to circumvent the rules by artificially inflating the club's revenues (€ 430 million budget in 2013-14)…
