eSports: the final of the 2019 World League of Legends to be held in Paris (FRA) in November 2019

The final of the "Worlds 2019", the equivalent of the world championships on the video game League of Legends (LoL), will be held at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris (FRA) in November 2019, says the American organizer Riot Games on 01/11/2018.

Other European cities, which have not yet been communicated, will host the rest of the 2019 edition, while the 2020 and 2021 editions will take place in China and North America, respectively.

The 2017 edition of the "Worlds", which took place in China from 23/09 to 04/11/2017, drew almost 80 million viewers for the semi-finals, according to the League of Legends website. The winner (the Samsung Galaxy team) won a prize of $4.9m (€4.2m on 11/04/2017) added the site.

"We really wanted to host this event, which is within our strategy of hosting the biggest sporting events, such as the Euro 2016 or the Paris 2024 Olympic Summer Games, but also eSports, and the Worlds are the most important," explained Jean-François Martins, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of sports, tourism and the Olympic Games, in the French daily Le Monde on 01/11/2018.
