FC Barcelona: club confirms rejecting Mediapro's Camp Nou naming rights offer

FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) has confirmed that it has rejected an offer from the Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro for the naming rights of the Camp Nou (99,354 capacity) on 26/10/2018.

Formed in the summer of 2018, Mediapro's proposal consisted of a sum "close to €300m over 20 years," according to the Spanish daily El País, which specified that FC Barcelona and Mediapro directors met on four occasions, including one in the presence of Josep Maria Bartomeu, president of the Catalan club, but failed to reach an agreement.

"The club said that it was necessary to add a minimum of €200m for the naming rights and this offer of Mediapro did not reach them. Why? Because it offered €300m to be paid in installments over 30 years, but the financial cost had to be borne by the club. In reality, once the financial cost was discounted, the offer was not €300m, but €165m.
